Happy October! Now, what to do??? Lake City, FL Family Photographer | Things to do near Lake City, FL

Family Portrait PhotographerHappy October!  Can you believe it’s already here?? I cannot. It will be Halloween before we know then Christmas!  Well, I decided the first Monday of every month I am going to do a  new kind of blog post. As a mom, on the weekends & sometimes a weeknight you want to know, “what can we do with the kids???”  So, on the first Monday of every month my blog post will let you know about events & things going on around town as well as towns nearby. That way I can help you (& myself) make memories with your kids. In the end as time flies so fast, that’s what is truly important right?

So, here we go. If I find the websites I will be sure to link as well so you can get ALL the info. 🙂

EVERY Saturday in October the Cannon Creek Airpark has a Pancake Breakfast Fly-In.  For a $5 donation you can get a wonderful breakfast outside with your family & let your children see the airplanes!  Perfect for the airplane lover in your family.

Sat, October 6th in Lake City is the Lake City Breast Cancer Awareness 5K walk/run.  A great chance to get some exercise as a family & support a great cause!  The walk starts at 8am at Olustee Park downtown. To register visit www.suwanneeawareness.com.

Wed., October 10th is the Inaugural Unity Day from 5p-7p at the Lake City Mall.  This event will cover what EVERY parent needs to know about Bullying. The signs, how to stop it, what to do if it’s happening to your kid & more. A FREE open event for the entire community. Show your support in stopping Bullying & show your kids you care!

Fri., October 26th The Big Bend Highland Games & Scottish Festival.  Festival lover?  Come celebrate Scottish culture & heritage at Citizen’s Lodge Park in Marianna, FL. Pipe and drum bands, Celtic Rock bands & the Highland Heavy Athletics (those shots you’ve seen of men in kilts rolling tires?? See it live here! That & more!).  Celtic merchandise & food vendors will be present as well. (this one is for my mom who loves all things Celtic)

Since it’s October there are many Corn Mazes & fall activities! I will TRY to list them all here & links to their websites so you can get all the info. 🙂

COON HOLLOW– opening October 5th the maze will be open from 4pm-11pm on Fridays & 11am-11pm on Saturdays & Sundays. Hayride, Corn Maze(9 acres!) & a special Kid Zone with a bounce house, cornbox, climb on haybales & more.

NEWBERRY CORNFIELD MAZE– Opening October 5th on Fridays & Saturdays from 3pm-11pm & on Sundays 2p-5p. Pumpkin patch, hayrides, mini maze for the kids, carnival games, cow train, corn hunt, farm animals & the haunted corn maze on night!

ROGERS FARM– Opening September 29th Rogers Farm will be open  from 5p-midnight on Fridays, 10am-midnight on Saturdays & 1pm-7pm on Sundays.  Rogers Farm has a large corn maze (10 acres), hay ride, farm animals, pony rides, cow train ride, kids corn maze, duck races, jumping pillow & giant slides & swings. At night the large maze is a haunted maze complete with ghosts & ghouls. (now, to be honest, this is my pick. My family has gone here ever year since Kylie was born. So this will be our 3rd year & yep, I scheduled it so I wouldn’t do any photos that day)Child Portraits

Additional fun around town & nearby:

ALACHUA COUNTY FAIR– October 19-27th

CHRIST CENTRAL FALL FESTIVALOn Wednesday, October 31st Christ Central Ministries on Dyal Rd. in Lake City has it’s annual Fall Festival. A safe & fun way to celebrate Halloween.  Bounce houses, hay maze, cow train, many vendors & more!

11th ANNUAL HALLELUJAH FESTIVAL- FREE food, games & worship music in downtown Olustee Park. Wednesday, October 31st from 3pm-6pm

There it is! From my internet research & events I already knew of, is a good idea of things to do this month. You could even Corn Field hop every Saturday for a busy October. 🙂  If you like this idea (me sharing events, activities, etc.. with you each month) then go ahead & like this pose or comment to let me know!  I LOVE feedback! ❤
